Use voice roleplay

Practice a live conversation with a scene partner, then get Dale’s debrief and practice score.

Updated View as Markdown

Voice roleplay is a live conversation with a scene partner — the Counterpart. Dale sets up the scene, then steps out while you practice. When you finish, Dale returns with what was noticed.

Start a roleplay

  1. Open Menu, then Library, and choose a Role-play exercise. Or ask Dale to start one. A skill pack can also open a roleplay as a step.
  2. Choose Start Exercise (or start from Dale). The roleplay room opens.
  3. Read the scene setup. Choose a Counterpart voice if you want.
  4. Allow microphone access when your browser asks.
  5. Choose Start the roleplay.

Use headphones if you hear an echo. Close other apps that use your microphone.

During the call

The Counterpart opens the conversation and stays in character for the scene — the person you are practicing with, under the pressure of that situation.

You talk in real time. You can interrupt when you need to. The room shows a short live transcript while you speak.

Choose End roleplay when you are done. The session also ends after about six minutes.

While you are live, you practice only with the Counterpart.

How the scene is set

Before you speak, ProSocial locks in:

  • the exercise title, scene, and persona from the Library card (or from Dale’s setup when Dale starts it)
  • how hard the Counterpart pushes (see Difficulty below)

That setup stays fixed for the full call.

Difficulty

Library cards show a Lvl for each roleplay. That rates how demanding the scene is when you pick it.

In a skill pack, the step also sets Counterpart pressure for that rep:

  • easier — more cooperative, room to speak, friction when you invite it
  • standard — ordinary pushback for that scene
  • stretch — more pushback and interruptions, and the Counterpart holds ground

Outside a pack, pressure stays at standard.

After the roleplay

Dale comes back on Today with a debrief: one specific thing you did and its effect, plus one concrete improvement to try next. You also get a practice score card. Choose Share with coach if you want a linked Certified People Coach to see that session.

You can Skip roleplay or Exit from the setup screen if you need to leave before you start.
